Inspiriert durch den Choreographen und „Real-Zeit” Komponierer und Improvisierer Steve Paxton, startet Goldberg 365 als Projekt einer auf ein Jahr angelegeten täglichen Improvisation in öffentlichen Räumen. Eine Klammer für die Perfromances und tänzerischen Improvisationen sind die Goldbervariationen von Johann Sebastian Bach. Aschwandens Interesse liegt allerdings mehr auf der Umsetzung und dem Prinzip der Variation in öffentlichen Räumen als in kunstaffinen Settings. Als non-linear gesetzte, urbane Vermessungsarbeit an die Texturen des urbanen angelehnt und darüber verbunden, entwickelt sich körperliches Denken und Tun in der Absicht, das Unschtbare, Unausgesprochene, das Definierte und Un-Definierte zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Die Serie thematisiert potentielle Beziehungen von Leben und Kunst in öffentlichen und privaten Räumen Goldberg 365 beabsichtigt die Variation der Variation auf allen Ebenen: Sound, Raum, Bewegung. Liu Xinyu hat in diesem Kontext eine Appropriation als Variation der Interpretation von Glen Gold geschaffen.

2016年，居住在维也纳的身体/行为表演艺术家 Daniel Aschwanden 再次来到北京做他如上所说的个人身体表演项目。他说他已经选好了一张名为《Bach: Goldberg Variations》的专辑作为演出配乐，但他想要我在这张专辑上面“添油加醋”。我没听过巴赫，更不知道 Glenn Gould，这段录音是我在毫无准备的情况下第一次尝试用调音台反馈信号去干扰其他音频信号，其中有很多“操作失误”，但我还是决定把这第一次尝试作为唱片出版。这是一场实验，一个记录，一个开始。
